Sólarkaffi – Sun Coffee

Annually the Leirvík community hall (Bygdarhúsið) hosts its special event: Sólarkaffi – Sun Coffee. The occasion is to mark the fact that on February 11th the sun can be seen from the entire village again, after having been out of sight for nearly three months during the winter.

A large table is set up in the community hall, laid out with cakes brought by volunteers from Leirvík. Villagers from Leirvík, living both near and far, journey back to their home village for the event.

Live music with local artists, art exhibitions and raffles are usually a part of the festivities.
