The Church of Gøta
The Church of Gøta was consecrated in 1995. Prior to its inauguration the inhabitants of Gøta attended their church services in the old church in Norðragøta. The painted glass artwork by renowned artist Tróndur Patursson is one of the church’s most striking features. In addition to the superb stained glass altar window, six beautiful lamps made from glass hang suspended from the ceiling, while 24 lamps – 12 large and 12 small – adorn the walls. The architectural church steeple symbolises the three crosses of Golgotha. Opening hours: The church is open to tourists between 14th May and 15th September, Monday – Saturday, 14:00 – 16:00. Price of admission: 20 DKK Please call +298 211076 for visits outside regular hours.
